  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KD527 - Settlement document: The system issued the last document number ?

The SAP error message KD527, which states "Settlement document: The system issued the last document number," typically occurs in the context of the settlement process in SAP Controlling (CO). This error indicates that the system has reached the maximum number of document numbers available for settlement documents, and it cannot generate a new document number for the settlement process.

    Cause:

    1. Exhausted Number Range: The number range for settlement documents has been exhausted. Each document type in SAP has a defined number range, and once the last number in that range is used, the system cannot generate new document numbers.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be issues with the configuration of number ranges for the relevant document type in the system.
    3. Document Type Settings: The document type settings may not be correctly configured to allow for the generation of new document numbers.

    Solution:

    1. Check Number Range Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code SNRO (Number Range Objects).
      • Look for the number range object related to settlement documents (usually CO_SETTLEMENT or similar).
      • Check the current status of the number range and see if it has been exhausted.
    2. Extend the Number Range:

      • If the number range is exhausted, you can extend it by adding more numbers to the range.
      • This can be done in the same SNRO transaction by adjusting the intervals for the number range.
    3. Review Document Type Settings:

      • Go to the transaction code OBA7 (for document types) or OKB9 (for controlling document types).
      • Ensure that the document type used for settlements is correctly configured and that it has an appropriate number range assigned.
    4. Check for Customizations:

      • If there are any custom developments or enhancements in your SAP system, ensure that they are not interfering with the number range assignment or document generation.
    5. Consult with SAP Basis Team:

      • If you do not have the necessary authorizations to change number ranges or configurations, consult with your SAP Basis or system administration team for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: SNRO (Number Range Objects), OBA7 (Document Types), OKB9 (Controlling Document Types).
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation related to number range management and settlement processes in SAP CO for more detailed information.
