  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In the risk management part, characteristic '&V1&' has the value '&V2&'
and in the profitability analysis part (transaction differentiation '
&V3&') it has the value '&V4&'.

    System Response

    The financial object is saved.

    How to fix this error?

Check which value characteristic '&V1&' has for the current financial
object. Adjust the risk management part or the profitability analysis
part accordingly if you want all the application parts to contain the
    same data.
If a characteristic was derived in the risk management part, but is
initial in the profitability analysis part, the characteristic value
from the risk management part is transferred to the relevant chara
cteristic in the profitability analysis part. If a characteristic was
derived in the profitability analysis part, but is initial in the risk
management part, the characteristic value from the profitability
analysis part is transferred to the relevant characteristic in the risk
    management part.
If you derive your characteristic values from different derivations and
these results should actually be the same, then you can check and
    correct the derivation steps.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message J3193 - Characteristic '&' not consistently edited; system can save data ?

The SAP error message J3193 indicates that a characteristic in a classification system is not consistently edited. This typically occurs in the context of material master data or classification data where certain characteristics are expected to have consistent values across different instances or records.

    Cause:

    1. Inconsistent Data Entry: The characteristic '&' (which would be replaced by the actual characteristic name in the error message) has been edited in a way that does not conform to the expected values or formats. This could happen if different users enter different values for the same characteristic.
    2. Missing Values: The characteristic may not have been filled out in all relevant instances, leading to inconsistencies.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be issues with the configuration of the classification system or the characteristics themselves, such as incorrect dependencies or settings.

    Solution:

    1. Review Characteristic Values: Check the values entered for the characteristic in question. Ensure that they are consistent across all relevant records.
    2. Standardize Data Entry: Implement standard operating procedures for data entry to ensure that all users are entering values in a consistent manner.
    3. Check Configuration: Review the configuration of the characteristic in the classification system. Ensure that it is set up correctly and that any dependencies or rules are properly defined.
    4. Data Cleanup: If there are existing inconsistencies, perform a data cleanup to standardize the values across all records.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the characteristic in question and how it should be used.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes like CL02 (Change Class) or CL03 (Display Class) to review and edit characteristics.
    • Classification System: Familiarize yourself with the classification system in SAP, including how characteristics and classes are defined and used.
    • User Training: Consider training for users who are responsible for entering or maintaining classification data to minimize future inconsistencies.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a technical consultant who can provide more in-depth analysis and assistance.
