Message class: IW - Order Processing
Message number: 264
Message text: You cannot print shop paper & as the print log is full
You are trying to print shop paper &V2& for maintenance order &V3& but
the print log is full.
When the system prints shop papers several times for the same
maintenance order, it determines a copy number individually for every
shop paper. The number ranges are the following:
?,,Normal print (if the maintenance order has a released status): 1-99
?,,Preprint (if you have not released the maintenance order yet):
100-199
?,,Reprint: 200-255
After the system has reached the last number of the range, it does not
save more print records.
Contact your system administrator.
You need to create a Z report which deletes the entries from table PMPL
for the given maintenance order. If it is necessary, save the old print
records into a temporary table.

The SAP error message IW264, which states "You cannot print shop paper & as the print log is full," typically occurs when the print log for a specific print request has reached its maximum capacity. This can prevent further print jobs from being processed until the log is cleared or managed.
Cause:
- Print Log Capacity: Each print request generates a log entry, and if the log reaches its maximum size, no new entries can be added, leading to this error.
- System Configuration: The configuration settings for the print log may not be optimized, resulting in quicker filling of the log.
- High Volume of Print Jobs: If there are many print jobs being processed simultaneously, the log can fill up quickly.
Solution:
Clear the Print Log:
- Go to the transaction code SP01 (Spool Request) in SAP.
- Check for the spool requests that are no longer needed and delete them to free up space in the print log.
- You can also use the transaction SP02 to manage and delete spool requests.
Increase Log Capacity:
- If the print log is frequently filling up, consider increasing the log size. This can be done by adjusting the settings in the SAP system configuration.
- Consult with your SAP Basis administrator to modify the spool parameters in the system profile.
Review Print Settings:
- Check the printer settings and ensure that they are configured correctly. Sometimes, incorrect settings can lead to excessive logging.
- Ensure that the printer is functioning correctly and that there are no issues with the print queue.
Monitor Print Jobs:
- Regularly monitor the print jobs and logs to ensure that they do not fill up unexpectedly. Implementing a routine check can help manage the print log effectively.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or support for specific guidance related to your version of SAP, as there may be additional steps or considerations based on your system configuration.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
