- Identifier & can only be assigned if asset type is opening clause ?The SAP error message ISSR499 indicates that there is an issue with the assignment of an identifier to an asset in the context of asset accounting. Specifically, the error states that the identifier can only be assigned if the asset type is an "opening clause." This typically occurs when trying to assign an identifier to an asset that does not meet the criteria set by the system.
Cause:
- Incorrect Asset Type: The asset type you are trying to assign the identifier to is not classified as an "opening clause" asset type. This could happen if the asset type is set up incorrectly in the system or if you are using the wrong asset type for the transaction.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings for asset types in the SAP system may not be set up to allow the assignment of identifiers for certain asset types.
- Transaction Context: The transaction you are performing may not be appropriate for the asset type you are working with, leading to this error.
Solution:
- Check Asset Type: Verify the asset type of the asset you are trying to assign the identifier to. Ensure that it is indeed an "opening clause" asset type. You can do this by navigating to the asset master record and checking the asset type field.
- Review Configuration: If the asset type is correct, review the configuration settings for asset types in the SAP system. Ensure that the settings allow for the assignment of identifiers where necessary. This may require access to the configuration settings in the Asset Accounting module.
- Use Correct Transaction: Ensure that you are using the correct transaction for the operation you are trying to perform. If you are trying to assign an identifier in a context that does not support it, you may need to change your approach.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more information on asset types and identifiers. This can provide insights into the specific requirements for assigning identifiers.
