been created in the database and, if so, will continue with processing.
If this message is repeatedly displayed for functional location &V1&,
ask your system administrator the current status of the asynchronous

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message IL109 - Superior location & has not yet been saved ?

The SAP error message IL109 indicates that the superior location (or parent location) has not yet been saved in the system. This typically occurs when you are trying to create or modify a subordinate location in the SAP system, but the system cannot proceed because the parent location is not yet saved or does not exist in the database.

    Cause:

    1. Unsaved Parent Location: The superior location (parent) has been created but not saved. This means that the system does not recognize it as a valid entry.
    2. Incorrect Hierarchy: The hierarchy of locations may not be correctly defined, leading to issues when trying to create or modify subordinate locations.
    3. Transaction Errors: There may have been an error during the transaction that prevented the parent location from being saved properly.

    Solution:

    1. Save the Superior Location: Ensure that the superior location is saved before attempting to create or modify the subordinate location. You can do this by navigating to the superior location and saving it.
    2. Check for Errors: If the superior location is not saving, check for any validation errors or missing mandatory fields that need to be filled out.
    3. Verify Hierarchy: Make sure that the hierarchy is correctly defined and that the superior location is valid and active.
    4. Recreate the Parent Location: If the parent location is not functioning correctly, consider deleting it (if possible) and recreating it, ensuring that all required fields are filled out correctly.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on location management and hierarchy setup.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as IL01 (Create Location), IL02 (Change Location), and IL03 (Display Location) to manage locations effectively.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to location management that might address this error.
    • User Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to create or modify locations in the system, as restrictions can also lead to errors.
    • System Configuration: Review the configuration settings for location management in your SAP system to ensure they are set up correctly.

If the issue persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a technical consultant for further assistance.
