Message text: Display of characteristics switched off; function is not executed
In list editing for technical objects, you want to choose, manage, or
change a layout for characteristics. This is not possible because you
have not switched on the display of characteristics.
To switch on the display of characteristics, select the relevant
technical objects in the list and choose <ZK>Settings</> -> <ZK>
Show/Hide Classification</>.
If the system finds more than one class for the selected technical
objects, choose one or more of the classes for displaying the cha
racteristics. The system displays the characteristics in their own
columns as defined in the user-specific or standard layout that has been
defined.
By choosing the <ZK>Layout for Characteristics</> pushbutton, you can
change the current layout, choose a different layout, or choose <ZK>
Manage layout</> to define a standard layout as the default as well as
create user-specific layouts.
<ZH>Note</>:
If the technical objects you selected in the list do not have any
classification characteristics, the display of characteristics remains
switched off.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
