    &ADDITIONAL_HINTS&
A selection class inherits the weighting factor type from the selection
rules assigned to it. A selection class has the type <LS>With weighting
factor</> if the following applies to an assigned selection rule:
A selection exit with an active <LS>With weighting type</> indicator is
    specified for the selection exit.
    The <LS>Time Specifications/Employment Period</> infotype (0552) is
specified for the <LS>Infotype</> category and the entry of a weighted
    period is defined for the
    <DS:GLOS.36D849553F3C357AE10000009B38F985>time specification type</>.
In all other cases, the selection class has the weighting factor type
    <LS>Without weighting factor</>.
Only selection rules with the type <LS>With weighting factor</> or only
selection rules with the type <LS>Without weighting factor</> can be
    assigned to a selection class.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRSEN00330 - Selection class &1 has overlapping weighted periods ?

The SAP error message HRSEN00330, which states "Selection class &1 has overlapping weighted periods," typically occurs in the context of SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) when there are issues with the configuration of selection classes and their associated weighted periods. This error indicates that there are overlapping time periods defined for a selection class, which can lead to ambiguity in how the system should process data.

    Cause:

    1. Overlapping Time Periods: The primary cause of this error is that two or more weighted periods for the same selection class overlap. This can happen if the periods are not defined correctly in the configuration.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration settings for the selection class may not have been set up properly, leading to conflicts in the defined periods.
    3. Data Entry Errors: Manual data entry errors when defining the periods can also lead to overlaps.

    Solution:

    1. Review Configuration: Check the configuration of the selection class in the SAP system. Navigate to the relevant configuration settings and review the weighted periods defined for the selection class in question.

      • Use transaction codes like SPRO to access the configuration settings.
      • Look for the path: Personnel Management > Personnel Administration > Customizing Procedures > Define Selection Classes.
    2. Adjust Periods: Modify the weighted periods to ensure that there are no overlaps. Each period should be distinct and should not share any dates with another period for the same selection class.

      • Ensure that the start and end dates of each period are clearly defined and do not intersect with others.
    3. Data Validation: If the periods are being entered through a data entry process, ensure that there are validation checks in place to prevent overlapping entries.

    4. Testing: After making adjustments, test the configuration to ensure that the error no longer occurs. You can do this by running the relevant processes that utilize the selection class.

    5. Documentation: Document the changes made to the configuration for future reference and to assist other users who may encounter similar issues.
