Message text: Enter a valid RUT number
The RUT number you have entered is not valid.
When you enter a RUT number, the system checks it by performing the
following steps:
Removes all characters except the 8 numbers and the check digit.
Pads with zeroes (0) until it is exactly 9 symbols long.
Multiplies the first 8 numbers, from left to right, by the following
factors: 3, 2, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Sums the results, finding the total.
Calculates: 11 ? (total / 11). The result is called "rest".
Determines the check digit as follows:
If rest = 11, then check digit = 0 (zero)
If rest = 10, then check digit = K
In all other cases, check digit = rest
If the check digit you entered is equal to the check digit calculated by
the system, the RUT number you entered is valid.
If the check digit you entered is different from the check digit
calculated by the system, the system displays this error message.
The system does not allow you to save your entries.
Enter a valid RUT number.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
