Message text: Deletion by period(s) only permitted for actual data
You want to delete certain periods of ledger &V1&. This function is
only available for actual data (record type "0" or "2"), since plan
data is generally (especially line items) posted in the system for an
entire year. It makes no sense to delete plan data from one period
only.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
If you want to delete by period, you have to specify record type "0" or
"2".

GU800
- Deletion by period(s) only permitted for actual data ?The SAP error message GU800, which states "Deletion by period(s) only permitted for actual data," typically occurs in the context of data management within SAP systems, particularly when dealing with financial or controlling data. This error indicates that the system is preventing the deletion of data that is not classified as "actual" data, which is often necessary for maintaining data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.
Cause:
- Data Type: The error arises when a user attempts to delete or manipulate data that is not categorized as actual data (e.g., planned or forecast data).
- Period Status: The system may be configured to allow deletions only for actual data within specific periods, and if the data falls outside of this classification, the operation will be blocked.
- Authorization Issues: Sometimes, the user may not have the necessary authorizations to perform deletions on certain types of data.
Solution:
- Check Data Type: Ensure that you are attempting to delete actual data. If you are trying to delete planned or forecast data, you may need to adjust your approach or consult with your finance team.
- Review Period Settings: Verify the period settings in your SAP system. Make sure that the data you are trying to delete falls within the allowed periods for deletion.
- Authorization Check: Confirm that you have the necessary permissions to perform deletions. If not, contact your SAP administrator to obtain the required authorizations.
- Use Alternative Methods: If deletion is not permitted, consider using alternative methods such as archiving or adjusting the data instead of outright deletion.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific instructions related to your version of SAP and the context in which you are working.
