  • What causes this issue?

Each of the selected extracts will be printed out for the entire
variation range used for report selection. In other words, in addition
to a report that was created with variation, reports from lower-level
cost center groups and cost centers are also printed out. This may lead
to multiple printouts of the same report if you chose the same
selection run for printing more than one report.
This example explains in greater detail: The following cost center
    group is given:

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    ---------------
    | TOP |

    -------------------------------------
    | |
    --------------- ---------------
    | NODE 1 | | NODE 2 |
    --------------- ---------------
    | |
    ------------------- -------------------
    | | | |
Cost center A Cost center B Cost center C Cost center D
If only one varied report is printed out for the TOP cost center group,
the report for cost center groups NODE 1 and NODE 2 as well as the
reports for cost centers A, B, C and D are all printed out in addition.
If you were to select and print the report for cost center group NODE 1
at the same time, the reports for cost center group NODE 1 as well as
for cost centers A and B would be printed twice.

    How to fix this error?

Check to see whether the selections you made caused reports to be
printed out twice and change your selections accordingly if you do not
    require double copies.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message GR158 - All extracts will be printed with active variation ?

The SAP error message GR158, which states "All extracts will be printed with active variation," typically occurs in the context of the SAP system when dealing with report variants or print layouts. This message is not necessarily an error in the traditional sense but rather a warning or informational message indicating that the system will use the active variant for printing all extracts.

    Cause:

    1. Active Variant Not Defined: The system may not have a specific variant defined for the report or extract you are trying to run, so it defaults to using the active variant.
    2. Variant Configuration: There may be issues with the configuration of the report variants, such as missing parameters or settings that are not properly defined.
    3. User Permissions: The user may not have the necessary permissions to access or use specific variants, leading the system to revert to the active one.

    Solution:

    1. Check Variants: Review the variants available for the report or extract you are running. Ensure that the correct variant is defined and active.
      • Go to the transaction code for the report (e.g., SE38 for ABAP reports) and check the variants associated with it.
    2. Define a New Variant: If the active variant is not suitable, consider creating a new variant that meets your requirements.
      • You can do this by executing the report, entering the desired parameters, and saving them as a new variant.
    3. Review User Permissions: Ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to access the required variants. This may involve checking roles and authorizations in the SAP system.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the report you are working with, as there may be additional settings or configurations needed.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SE38 (ABAP Editor), SA38 (Execute Report), and variants management.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or updates related to the specific report or module you are working with.
    • User Training: Ensure that users are trained on how to create and manage report variants effectively to avoid confusion in the future.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis or functional team for further investigation.
