Message text: The planning record already exists
The CO interface is parametrized in such a way that you cannot
overwrite planned records that already exist (paramter UPDATE_VALUES =
SPACE). &v1& with key &v2& is to be transferred. However, this record
already exists in table &v3&.
Data has not been updated.
The planned record is written to the error log.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Delete the corresponding record in manual planning or set the 'Reset
and Overwrite' flag when copying plan data (or the parameter
UPDATE_VALUES with programs that you have written yourself).

GP705
- The planning record already exists ?The SAP error message GP705, which states "The planning record already exists," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Human Capital Management (HCM) module, particularly when dealing with personnel planning or organizational management. This error indicates that there is an attempt to create a planning record (such as a position, job, or employee record) that already exists in the system.
Causes:
- Duplicate Entry: The most common cause is that a planning record with the same key (e.g., employee ID, position ID) already exists in the database.
- Incorrect Data Entry: Users may inadvertently enter data that matches an existing record.
- System Configuration: There may be issues with the configuration of the planning area or the planning process that allow for duplicate entries.
- Data Migration Issues: If data has been migrated from another system, duplicates may have been created during the migration process.
Solutions:
Check Existing Records: Before creating a new planning record, check the existing records to ensure that the record you are trying to create does not already exist. Use transaction codes like PA20 (Display HR Master Data) or PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) to search for existing records.
Modify Existing Record: If a record already exists and needs to be updated, modify the existing record instead of creating a new one.
Data Validation: Implement data validation checks in the user interface to prevent users from entering duplicate records.
Review Configuration: If the issue persists, review the configuration settings in the planning area to ensure that they are set up correctly to prevent duplicates.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific module you are working with for any additional guidance or known issues.
Contact SAP Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance, especially if you suspect a bug or system issue.
