Message text: Deletion not possible due to usage in validations
You want to delete custom characteristics. A precondition for this is
that none of the characteristics you want to delete are used either
directly or indirectly in a validation. This condition is not
fulfilled.
The custom characteristics cannot be deleted.
Change the existing validations and rules so that they use none of the
custom characteristics you want to delete. The quickest way of doing
this is by replacing the appropriate condition in those rules that
directly use one of the custom characteristics in question.
Delete any invalid rules or validations that you no longer require.
Note that you can only delete a rule if it is not referenced by other
rules or validations. You can make the necessary changes interactively
from the list. Edit the individual entries and then refresh the list.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Deletion not possible due to usage in validations ?The SAP error message G00612, which states "Deletion not possible due to usage in validations," typically occurs when you attempt to delete a validation that is currently being used in the system. This can happen in various contexts, such as when working with validation rules in financial accounting or other modules where validations are defined.
Cause:
The primary cause of this error is that the validation you are trying to delete is still referenced or utilized in one or more validation rules or processes. SAP prevents the deletion of such validations to maintain data integrity and ensure that there are no broken references in the system.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Identify Usage: Check where the validation is being used. You can do this by:
- Navigating to the validation configuration in the relevant module (e.g., Financial Accounting).
- Reviewing the list of validations to see if the one you want to delete is referenced in any active validation rules.
Remove References: If you find that the validation is being used:
- Modify or delete the validation rules that reference the validation you want to delete.
- Ensure that no other processes or configurations are dependent on the validation.
Delete the Validation: Once you have removed all references to the validation, you should be able to delete it without encountering the error.
Testing: After deletion, it’s a good practice to test the system to ensure that everything is functioning correctly and that no unintended consequences have arisen from the deletion.
