Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message G00013 - Ledger &1 is in SAP's name space - do not use ?

The SAP error message G00013 indicates that you are trying to use a ledger that is in SAP's namespace, which is not allowed. SAP reserves certain namespaces for its own use, and any attempt to create or modify objects in these namespaces can lead to errors.

    Cause:

    The error occurs when:

    • You attempt to create or use a ledger (or other object) that has a name starting with "0" or "1", which are reserved for SAP's internal use.
    • The ledger you are trying to access or create is already defined in the SAP system and is not intended for customer use.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Ledger Name: Ensure that the ledger name you are trying to create or use does not start with a number or is not in the reserved namespace. SAP typically uses names that start with "0" or "1" for its own objects.

    2. Use Custom Namespace: If you need to create a new ledger, use a custom namespace. This usually involves using a prefix that is designated for your organization (e.g., "Z" or "Y"). For example, instead of naming your ledger "1XYZ", you could name it "ZXYZ".

    3. Review Existing Ledgers: If you are trying to access an existing ledger, check the list of ledgers in your system to see if the one you are trying to use is already defined by SAP. You may need to use a different ledger that is available for customer use.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your system administrator for guidelines on naming conventions and the use of namespaces.

    5. Contact SAP Support: If you are unsure about the naming conventions or if you believe this error is occurring inappropriately, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Namespaces in SAP: SAP uses namespaces to differentiate between standard SAP objects and customer-defined objects. Customer namespaces typically start with "Z" or "Y".
    • Transaction Codes: You can use transaction codes like OB22 (for defining ledgers) to check existing configurations and ensure compliance with naming conventions.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any updates or specific guidance related to this error message.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the G00013 error and successfully manage your ledgers in SAP.
