  • Message number: 020

  • Message text: &1&2&3&4 Barcode may have wrong Screen Reader precedence

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

[0020] Generally barcodes should not have an alternative text since the
Screen Reader will read this alternative text out instead of the barcode
type. Thus if the barcode type is important to the user, the user will
miss this information. Also do not set the Screen Reader precedence to
"None" since the Screen Reader will treat the barcode as an image.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

For the Screen Reader to read the barcode type as expected, set the
Screen Reader Precedence to "Name". If for certain reason additional
text description is necessary, maintain an alternative text and set the
SRP to "Custom Text" or "Tooltip". If you do this, the Screen Reader no
longer reads the barcode type. If the barcode type contains important
information, add the barcode type to the description. Please bear in
mind that the user can see the tooltip in Interactive form. If the form
is print form, no tooltip is shown so all users, beside Screen Reader
    users, will miss this information.
