- Legacy data exists for item &1 which is dated after takeover date ?The SAP error message FARR_RAI657 indicates that there is legacy data for a specific item that is dated after the takeover date. This typically occurs in the context of asset accounting or financial transactions where the system is trying to process data that conflicts with the defined takeover date for an asset or item.
Cause:
- Legacy Data: The error arises when there is existing legacy data (historical transactions or records) for the asset/item that has a date later than the specified takeover date. The takeover date is the point in time from which the system should start processing new data.
- Incorrect Takeover Date: The takeover date may have been set incorrectly, or the legacy data may not have been properly archived or removed.
- Data Migration Issues: If data was migrated from another system, it may not have been cleaned up properly, leading to inconsistencies.
Solution:
- Review Legacy Data: Check the legacy data for the item in question. Identify any records that have dates after the takeover date.
- Adjust Takeover Date: If the legacy data is valid and should be retained, consider adjusting the takeover date to a point before the latest legacy record.
- Data Cleanup: If the legacy data is not needed, you may need to delete or archive the records that are causing the conflict.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team to understand the implications of changing the takeover date or deleting legacy data.
- Transaction Codes: Use relevant transaction codes (like AS02 for asset master data) to review and modify the asset records as necessary.
