The SAP error message F2420, which states "E-mail address still in use," typically occurs when you attempt to delete or modify an email address that is still associated with active records in the system. This can happen in various contexts, such as when trying to change a user’s email address or when managing customer/vendor master data.

    Cause:

    1. Active Records: The email address is linked to active transactions, such as open invoices, customer/vendor records, or other documents.
    2. System Constraints: SAP has built-in constraints to prevent the deletion of data that is still in use to maintain data integrity.
    3. User Assignments: The email address may be assigned to users or roles that are currently active in the system.

    Solution:

To resolve the F2420 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Identify Usage:

      • Check where the email address is being used. This can include customer/vendor master data, user profiles, or any related transactions.
      • Use transaction codes like SE16 or SE11 to query relevant tables (e.g., KNA1 for customers, LFA1 for vendors) to find records associated with the email address.
    2. Update or Remove Dependencies:

      • If the email address is linked to active records, you may need to update those records to use a different email address before you can delete or modify it.
      • Ensure that there are no open transactions or documents that reference the email address.
    3. Check User Assignments:

      • If the email is linked to a user, check the user master records (transaction SU01) and ensure that the email is not in use by any active users.
    4. Consult with Your SAP Administrator:

      • If you are unable to identify the dependencies or if the email address is critical for ongoing processes, consult with your SAP administrator or support team for assistance.
    5. Use Transaction Codes:

      • You can use transaction codes like SU10 for mass user maintenance or BP for business partner management to make necessary changes.
