  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EH2030 - No objects available; installed devices are currently locked ?

The SAP error message EH2030, which states "No objects available; installed devices are currently locked," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) module or when dealing with device management in SAP. This error indicates that the system is unable to access certain objects or devices because they are currently locked, possibly due to ongoing processes or transactions.

    Causes:

    1. Locked Devices: The devices or objects you are trying to access are currently locked by another user or process. This can happen if another transaction is being processed that involves the same devices.
    2. User Permissions: The user may not have the necessary permissions to access the devices or objects.
    3. System Configuration: There may be configuration issues in the SAP system that prevent access to the devices.
    4. Database Locks: There could be database-level locks that are preventing access to the required objects.

    Solutions:

    1. Check for Locks:

      • Use transaction code SM12 to check for any locks on the devices or objects. You can see which user or process is holding the lock and take appropriate action (e.g., wait for the process to complete or contact the user).
    2. Release Locks:

      • If you have the necessary permissions, you can release the locks from SM12. However, be cautious when doing this, as it may disrupt ongoing processes.
    3. User Permissions:

      • Verify that the user has the appropriate authorizations to access the devices. You may need to consult with your SAP security team to ensure that the user roles are correctly assigned.
    4. Check Configuration:

      • Review the configuration settings related to the devices in the SAP system. Ensure that everything is set up correctly and that there are no misconfigurations.
    5. System Restart:

      • In some cases, a system restart may help clear any lingering locks or issues. However, this should be done with caution and typically requires coordination with your IT team.
    6. Consult SAP Notes:

      • Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error. There may be patches or updates that resolve the issue.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SM12 (to view and manage locks), SU01 (to manage user accounts), and SE11 (to view database tables).
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation related to the EHS module or device management for additional context on how to manage devices and troubleshoot related issues.
    • Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance, especially if it appears to be a bug or a more complex issue.
