Message number: 040
Message text: TOU exception valid-to time &1 does not match interval length &2
The TOU exception program triggers a rate (using conditional billing
programs), in which the TOU interface has an interval length of &V2&.
The end time entered &V1& for the current TOU exception is not suitable
for this interval length.
Note that the end of a TOU exception must be exactly a second before the
start of an interval and be suitable for the interval length.
Example:
The interval length is 15 minutes. This means that a TOU exception
always starts exactly on the 15th minute. The end must always be exactly
one second before this time. Admissible values for the end time are
therefore 10:14:59, 10:29:59, 10:44:59 oder 10:59:59 Uhr.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

EE_TOUE040
- TOU exception valid-to time &1 does not match interval length &2 ?The SAP error message EE_TOUE040 indicates that there is a mismatch between the "valid-to" time and the expected interval length in a Time of Use (TOU) pricing scenario. This error typically arises in the context of energy management or billing processes where time intervals are defined for pricing purposes.
Cause:
The error occurs when the "valid-to" date/time for a TOU pricing record does not align with the expected duration of the interval defined for that pricing. This can happen due to several reasons:
- Incorrect Configuration: The TOU pricing intervals may not be configured correctly, leading to discrepancies in the expected valid-to time.
- Data Entry Errors: Manual entry of dates or times may lead to incorrect values being inputted.
- Changes in Time Intervals: If there have been changes to the time intervals or pricing structures, the valid-to time may not have been updated accordingly.
- Overlapping Intervals: If there are overlapping TOU intervals, it can cause confusion in determining the valid-to time.
Solution:
To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:
Check TOU Configuration:
- Review the configuration of the TOU pricing intervals in the SAP system. Ensure that the valid-to time aligns with the defined interval lengths.
- Verify that the intervals are set up correctly without overlaps.
Validate Data Entries:
- Check the entries for the TOU records to ensure that the valid-to time is entered correctly and matches the expected interval length.
- Correct any discrepancies found in the data.
Update Valid-to Time:
- If the valid-to time is incorrect, update it to match the expected interval length. This may involve adjusting the end date/time of the pricing interval.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on configuring TOU pricing and handling exceptions.
Testing:
- After making changes, test the configuration to ensure that the error no longer occurs and that the TOU pricing is functioning as expected.
Seek Support:
- If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for further assistance.
