The SAP error message CZ265, which states "Numeric material numbers already present in system," typically occurs when you are trying to create a new material number that is entirely numeric and conflicts with existing material numbers in the system. This can happen due to the configuration settings in the SAP system regarding material number formats.

    Cause:

    1. Existing Numeric Material Numbers: The error arises when the system detects that the material number you are trying to create is numeric and there are already existing material numbers that are also numeric.
    2. Configuration Settings: The system may be configured to restrict the creation of new numeric material numbers if there are already existing ones to avoid confusion or errors in material identification.
    3. Material Number Ranges: The defined number ranges for materials may not allow for the creation of new numeric material numbers if they overlap with existing ones.

    Solution:

    1. Change Material Number: Use a different material number that is alphanumeric or does not conflict with existing numeric material numbers.
    2. Check Existing Material Numbers: Review the existing material numbers in the system to ensure that the new number you are trying to create does not already exist.
    3. Adjust Number Ranges: If you have the necessary permissions, you can adjust the number range settings in the configuration to allow for new numeric material numbers. This typically involves:
      • Navigating to the configuration settings for material management.
      • Checking the number range intervals for materials.
      • Modifying the intervals if necessary to accommodate new entries.
    4. Consult with SAP Basis or Functional Team: If you are unsure about making changes to the configuration, consult with your SAP Basis or functional team for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like MM01 (Create Material) to attempt creating a new material and MM02 (Change Material) to modify existing materials.
