- Sequences in order & cannot be exchanged ?The SAP error message CO591, which states "Sequences in order & cannot be exchanged," typically occurs in the context of production order processing, particularly when dealing with operations that have a defined sequence. This error indicates that the system has detected an attempt to change the sequence of operations in a way that is not allowed due to dependencies or constraints defined in the production order.
Cause:
- Operation Dependencies: The operations in the production order may have dependencies that dictate a specific sequence. For example, certain operations must be completed before others can start.
- Routing Configuration: The routing for the production order may have been set up in such a way that it enforces a strict sequence of operations.
- Production Order Status: The status of the production order may not allow for changes to the sequence of operations. For instance, if the order is already in process or completed, changes may be restricted.
- Resource Allocation: If resources (machines, labor) are allocated to specific operations, changing the sequence may violate the resource allocation rules.
Solution:
- Review Operation Sequence: Check the operation sequence in the production order and ensure that any changes you are trying to make do not violate the defined sequence.
- Check Dependencies: Look for any dependencies between operations that may prevent the exchange of sequences. You may need to adjust the routing or dependencies if necessary.
- Change Order Status: If the production order is in a status that does not allow changes (e.g., released, in process), you may need to change the status back to a state that allows modifications (e.g., "Created" or "Planned").
- Consult Routing: Review the routing for the production order to ensure that it allows for the desired changes. If necessary, modify the routing to accommodate the changes.
- Use Transaction Codes: Utilize transaction codes like CO02 (Change Production Order) to make the necessary adjustments, ensuring that you are following the correct sequence.
