- Superior reference func. location &1 (&2) for &3 (&4) will not be deleted ?The SAP error message CNV20551587 indicates that there is an issue related to the deletion of a superior reference functional location in the context of a conversion or migration process. This error typically arises during data migration activities, particularly when using SAP's Conversion or Migration tools.
Cause:
The error message suggests that the system is attempting to delete a functional location that has a superior reference functional location. In SAP, functional locations are hierarchical structures, and if a functional location has dependent or superior locations, it cannot be deleted without addressing those dependencies first.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Check Dependencies: Identify the superior functional location and any dependent functional locations. You can do this by navigating to the functional location in the SAP system and checking its hierarchy.
Delete Dependencies: Before attempting to delete the functional location, ensure that all dependent functional locations or references are either deleted or reassigned. This may involve:
- Deleting subordinate functional locations.
- Reassigning any references to another functional location.
Use Transaction Codes: You can use transaction codes like IL01 (Create Functional Location), IL02 (Change Functional Location), and IL03 (Display Functional Location) to manage functional locations.
Check for Custom Logic: If you are using custom migration logic or tools, ensure that they are correctly handling the relationships between functional locations.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to functional location management and data migration for any specific guidelines or best practices.
Testing: After making the necessary changes, test the deletion process again to ensure that the error does not reoccur.
Related Information:
If the issue persists after following these steps, consider reaching out to SAP support or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide more tailored assistance based on your specific system configuration and migration scenario.
