  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CM_CBESCOM128 - Conversion of unit of measure &1 to unit of measure &2 failed ?

The SAP error message CM_CBESCOM128 indicates that there was a failure in converting a unit of measure (UoM) from one type to another. This error typically arises in scenarios where a conversion is required, such as during the processing of materials, inventory management, or when dealing with production orders.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Conversion Factors: The most common cause of this error is that there are no defined conversion factors between the two units of measure in the system. For example, if you are trying to convert from kilograms to pounds, and there is no conversion factor defined in the system, this error will occur.

    2. Incorrect Unit of Measure: The units of measure being used may not be compatible or may not exist in the system. This can happen if a custom unit of measure is used without proper configuration.

    Solution:

    1. Check Conversion Factors: Go to the transaction code CUNI (Unit of Measure Conversion) and check if the conversion factors between the two units of measure are defined. If not, you will need to create the necessary conversion entries.

    2. Verify Unit of Measure Configuration: Ensure that both units of measure are correctly defined in the system. You can check this in the material master (transaction code MM03) or in the unit of measure settings.

    3. Review Material Master Data: Check the material master data for the specific material involved in the error. Ensure that the units of measure are correctly assigned and that the conversion factors are set up properly.

    4. Check for Custom Units: If you are using custom units of measure, ensure that they are properly configured in the system and that conversion factors are defined.

    5. Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance.
