  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CJ077 - Cannot delete - simulation versions exist ?

The SAP error message CJ077: Cannot delete - simulation versions exist typically occurs when you attempt to delete a project or a project version in SAP Project System (PS) that has associated simulation versions. Simulation versions are used to model different scenarios or changes without affecting the actual project data.

    Cause:

      • If you find simulation versions that are no longer needed, you can delete them. To do this:
        • Go to the project in CJ20N.
        • Select the simulation version you want to delete.
        • Use the option to delete the simulation version (usually found in the menu or context menu).
      • Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete these versions.
    3. Retry Deletion:

      • After deleting the simulation versions, attempt to delete the original project or project version again.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • CJ20N: Project Builder
      • CJ03: Display Project
      • CJ02: Change Project
      • CJ01: Create Project

    • Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete projects and simulation versions. If you do not have the required permissions, contact your SAP administrator.

    • Backup: Before deleting any versions, consider backing up any important data or configurations to prevent accidental loss of critical information.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages (message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.

An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
