  • What causes this issue?

You entered the unit of measure &V1&. The dimension of this unit of
measure corresponds neither to the dimension of the base unit of
measure &V2& nor to the dimension of the output unit of measure &V3& of
    the production resource/tool material.

    How to fix this error?

Enter a unit of measure whose dimension corresponds to the dimension of
the base unit of measure &V2& or with that of the output unit of
measure &V3& of the material PRT.
If you enter a dimensionless unit of measure, this must correspond to
the base unit of measure or the output unit of measure of the material
PRT. You should not enter another dimensionless unit of measure.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CF087 - Unit of measure & not defined (check entry) ?

The SAP error message CF087, which states "Unit of measure & not defined (check entry)," typically occurs when the system encounters a unit of measure (UoM) that is not recognized or defined in the system during a transaction or process. This can happen in various contexts, such as when creating or processing materials, sales orders, or production orders.

    Cause:

    1. Undefined Unit of Measure: The unit of measure you are trying to use has not been defined in the system.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The unit of measure may not be properly configured in the relevant master data (e.g., material master, vendor master).
    3. Data Entry Error: There may be a typographical error in the unit of measure entered.
    4. Missing UoM in Customizing: The unit of measure might not be included in the relevant customizing settings for the specific application area.

    Solution:

    1. Check UoM Definition:

      • Go to the transaction code CUNI (Unit of Measure Conversion) or OMN1 (Define Units of Measure) to check if the unit of measure is defined.
      • If it is not defined, you will need to create it.
    2. Create or Update UoM:

      • If the UoM is missing, create it by entering the necessary details (like the UoM code, description, and conversion factors if applicable).
      • Ensure that the UoM is assigned to the relevant material types or other master data as needed.
    3. Check Material Master:

      • Use transaction code MM03 to view the material master record and check if the UoM is correctly assigned.
      • If necessary, update the material master to include the correct UoM.
    4. Review Customizing Settings:

      • Check the customizing settings for the specific module you are working with (e.g., Sales and Distribution, Materials Management) to ensure that the UoM is included in the relevant settings.
    5. Data Entry Verification:

      • Double-check the entry for any typographical errors or incorrect UoM codes.
    6. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or help files for additional guidance on UoM configuration and usage.

    Related Information:

    • Unit of Measure Types: Understand the different types of units of measure (e.g., base unit, alternative unit) and how they are used in SAP.
    • Conversion Factors: If you are using multiple units of measure, ensure that conversion factors are correctly defined.
    • User Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to create or modify units of measure in the system.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues or bugs related to UoM handling in your version of SAP.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the CF087 error and ensure that the unit of measure is properly defined and utilized in your SAP system.
