  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CC350 - Material type & not supported for BOM usage & ?

The SAP error message CC350 indicates that the material type specified is not supported for the Bill of Materials (BOM) usage you are trying to perform. This typically occurs when you attempt to create or modify a BOM for a material type that is not configured to be used in that context.

    Cause:

    1. Material Type Configuration: The material type you are using is not allowed for the specific BOM usage. Each material type in SAP can be configured to support certain BOM usages (e.g., production, sales, etc.).
    2. BOM Usage Settings: The BOM usage settings in the system may not include the material type you are trying to use.
    3. Incorrect Material Type: You may have mistakenly selected a material type that is not intended for BOM creation.

    Solution:

    1. Check Material Type Configuration:

      • Go to transaction code OMV2 (or SPRO -> Logistics - General -> Master Data -> Material Master -> Basic Settings -> Define Material Types).
      • Verify the settings for the material type in question and ensure that it is allowed for the desired BOM usage.
    2. Review BOM Usage:

      • Check the BOM usage settings in transaction code CS01 (Create BOM) or CS02 (Change BOM).
      • Ensure that the BOM usage you are trying to use is compatible with the material type.
    3. Change Material Type:

      • If the material type is indeed not supported for the BOM usage, consider using a different material type that is compatible.
    4. Consult with SAP Basis or Configuration Team:

      • If you do not have the necessary permissions to change the configuration, consult with your SAP Basis or configuration team to make the necessary adjustments.

    Related Information:

    • BOM Usages: Common BOM usages include Production (1), Sales (2), Engineering (3), etc. Each usage has specific requirements and allowed material types.
    • Material Master: The material master record contains all the information about a material, including its type, which can affect how it is used in BOMs.
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on material types and BOM configurations.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the CC350 error and successfully create or modify the BOM as needed.
