Message text: Error on external database during commit change
An error occurred while the system was attempting to update changes to
the external database. The update was probably terminated abnormally.
The worklist is still consistent, however, since object transfers to an
external system update the external database changes before the local
database changes.
Processing of the worklist is terminated.
Use transaction SM13 in the external system to see whether any abnormal
update terminations occurred.
Do <ZH>not</> restart the update.
Determine what caused the abnormal termination and correct the error to
prevent further terminations.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

CACSOA233
- Error on external database during commit change ?The SAP error message CACSOA233 typically indicates that there is an issue with committing changes to an external database during a transaction. This error can arise in scenarios where SAP is integrated with an external database, such as when using SAP Data Services, SAP HANA Smart Data Integration, or other middleware solutions.
Causes:
- Database Connectivity Issues: There may be a problem with the connection between SAP and the external database, such as network issues, incorrect connection parameters, or database server downtime.
- Transaction Conflicts: If there are concurrent transactions trying to modify the same data, it can lead to conflicts that prevent a successful commit.
- Data Integrity Violations: The data being committed may violate constraints or rules defined in the external database, such as primary key or foreign key constraints.
- Resource Limitations: The external database may be experiencing resource limitations, such as insufficient memory or disk space, which can prevent it from processing the commit.
- Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings in the SAP system or the external database can lead to errors during commit operations.
Solutions:
- Check Database Connectivity: Verify that the connection to the external database is active and that the connection parameters (hostname, port, username, password) are correct.
- Review Transaction Logs: Check the logs of both SAP and the external database for any error messages or warnings that could provide more context about the failure.
- Handle Data Conflicts: If there are concurrent transactions, implement proper locking mechanisms or retry logic to handle conflicts.
- Validate Data: Ensure that the data being committed adheres to the integrity constraints of the external database. This may involve checking for duplicates, null values, or other violations.
- Monitor Resource Usage: Check the resource usage of the external database to ensure it has enough memory, CPU, and disk space to handle the transaction.
- Configuration Review: Review the configuration settings in both SAP and the external database to ensure they are set up correctly for the integration.
