  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message C0701 - No authorization for entering the signature: Entry rejected ?

The SAP error message C0701, which states "No authorization for entering the signature: Entry rejected," typically occurs when a user attempts to enter a signature in a document or transaction but lacks the necessary authorization to do so. This can happen in various SAP modules, particularly in areas where document approvals or signatures are required.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Authorization: The user does not have the required authorization object assigned to their user profile to enter a signature.
    2. Role Configuration: The user's role may not include the necessary permissions for the specific transaction or document type.
    3. Authorization Object: The specific authorization object related to signature entry (e.g., S_USER_AUTH, S_TCODE, or others depending on the context) may not be properly configured.
    4. Document Status: The document may be in a status that does not allow for signature entry.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after the error occurs to see which authorization check failed.
      • Review the user's roles and authorizations in transaction SU01 or PFCG.
    2. Modify Roles:

      • If the user lacks the necessary authorization, a security administrator should modify the user's role to include the required authorization objects.
      • Ensure that the role includes the necessary permissions for the specific transaction or document type.
    3. Consult with Security Team:

      • If you are not an administrator, contact your SAP security team to request the necessary authorizations.
    4. Check Document Status:

      • Verify if the document is in a status that allows for signature entry. If not, you may need to change the status or follow the appropriate workflow to enable signature entry.
    5. Testing:

      • After changes are made, have the user log out and log back in to ensure that the new authorizations take effect.
      • Test the transaction again to confirm that the issue is resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Authorization Objects: Familiarize yourself with the relevant authorization objects that control signature entry in your specific SAP environment.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation or internal guidelines regarding user roles and authorizations.
    • Transaction Codes: Common transaction codes related to user management and authorization include:
      • SU01 (User Maintenance)
