BRAIN768
- Select a query variant for the selected setting ?The SAP error message BRAIN768 ("Select a query variant for the selected setting") typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to execute a query without having a specific query variant selected. This can happen in various scenarios, such as when you are working with BEx Analyzer, BEx Query Designer, or other reporting tools within SAP BW.
Cause:
The error is caused by the absence of a selected query variant for the query you are trying to execute. A query variant is a saved set of parameters and settings that define how the query should be executed and displayed. If no variant is selected, the system does not know how to process the query.
Solution:
To resolve the BRAIN768 error, follow these steps:
Select a Query Variant:
- When you are in the query execution screen (e.g., BEx Analyzer or BEx Query Designer), look for an option to select a query variant.
- If you have previously saved variants, you can select one from the dropdown list.
- If you do not have any variants saved, you may need to create a new one.
Create a New Query Variant:
- If you need to create a new variant, you can do so by setting the desired parameters for your query (e.g., filters, display options).
- After setting the parameters, save the variant by providing a name and description.
Check User Authorizations:
- Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to access the query and its variants. Lack of permissions can sometimes lead to issues in selecting or viewing variants.
Review Query Settings:
- If the issue persists, review the query settings in the BEx Query Designer to ensure that the query is properly configured and that variants are enabled.
Consult Documentation:
- If you are still facing issues, refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP BW administrator for further assistance.
