  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message B1130 - Too many recipients found for message type & in the ALE model ?

The SAP error message B1130, which states "Too many recipients found for message type & in the ALE model," typically occurs in the context of Application Link Enabling (ALE) when there are too many recipients defined for a specific message type. This can happen when the system attempts to send a message to a large number of logical systems, exceeding the configured limits.

    Cause:

    1. Excessive Recipients: The primary cause of this error is that the number of logical systems (recipients) defined for a particular message type exceeds the maximum limit set in the system.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be misconfigurations in the ALE distribution model, where too many systems are assigned to receive the same message type.
    3. Message Type Definition: The message type may be incorrectly defined or used in a way that leads to an excessive number of recipients.

    Solution:

    1. Review the Distribution Model:

      • Go to transaction BD64 (ALE Distribution Model) and check the distribution model for the message type in question.
      • Ensure that only the necessary logical systems are included as recipients for the message type.
    2. Limit the Number of Recipients:

      • If there are too many logical systems assigned, consider consolidating or limiting the recipients to only those that are necessary for the business process.
    3. Check Configuration Settings:

      • Review the configuration settings for the message type and ensure that they align with the business requirements.
      • If needed, adjust the settings to reduce the number of recipients.
    4. Increase the Limit (if applicable):

      • If your business process genuinely requires sending messages to a large number of recipients, consult with your SAP Basis or technical team to see if the limit can be increased in the system settings.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, perform tests to ensure that the message can be sent successfully without triggering the error.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • BD64: To manage the ALE distribution model.
      • WE20: To configure partner profiles.
      • WE21: To manage port definitions.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for ALE and IDoc processing for more detailed information on configuring message types and distribution models.
