- Depreciation simulation data deleted due to change of company code ?The SAP error message AY016 indicates that depreciation simulation data has been deleted due to a change in the company code. This typically occurs when there is a modification in the asset master data that involves changing the company code associated with an asset. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:
Cause:
- Change of Company Code: The primary cause of this error is the change of the company code in the asset master record. When the company code is changed, the system deletes any existing depreciation simulation data because this data is specific to the original company code.
- Asset Master Data Changes: If you are trying to simulate depreciation for an asset that has had its company code changed, the system will not be able to find the relevant simulation data, leading to this error.
Solution:
- Check Asset Master Data: Verify the asset master data to ensure that the company code is correctly set. If the change was unintentional, you may need to revert the company code to its original value.
- Recreate Depreciation Simulation Data: If the company code change is intentional, you will need to recreate the depreciation simulation data for the asset under the new company code. This can typically be done by running the depreciation simulation transaction again.
- Use Transaction Code: You can use transaction codes like AS02 (Change Asset) to check and modify the asset details, and AFAB (Run Depreciation) to simulate depreciation after ensuring the asset is correctly set up.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to asset accounting for more detailed steps on handling asset master data changes and depreciation simulations.
