  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AY015 - Depreciation simulation data deleted due to change of company code ?

The SAP error message AY015 indicates that depreciation simulation data has been deleted due to a change in the company code. This typically occurs when an asset is transferred from one company code to another, and the system needs to ensure that the depreciation calculations are accurate and relevant to the new company code.

    Cause:

    1. Change of Company Code: The primary cause of this error is the transfer of an asset from one company code to another. When this happens, the system deletes any existing depreciation simulation data associated with the asset in the previous company code.
    2. Inconsistent Data: The system may also encounter inconsistencies in the asset master data that prevent it from processing depreciation simulations correctly.

    Solution:

    1. Re-run Depreciation Simulation: After the company code change, you should re-run the depreciation simulation for the asset in the new company code. This will allow the system to generate new depreciation data based on the current settings and parameters of the new company code.
    2. Check Asset Master Data: Ensure that the asset master data is correctly set up in the new company code. This includes verifying the asset class, useful life, and any other relevant parameters.
    3. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings for asset accounting in the new company code to ensure they align with the requirements for depreciation calculations.
    4. Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like AS02 (Change Asset) to review and modify asset details, and AFAB (Run Depreciation) to execute the depreciation run.
