The SAP error message AQ526 "Refresh query first" typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when a query is being executed, but the underlying data has changed or is not up-to-date. This message indicates that the query needs to be refreshed to ensure that it reflects the most current data.

    Cause:

    1. Data Changes: The data in the InfoProvider (like an InfoCube or DataStore Object) has been updated or changed since the last time the query was executed.
    2. Query Cache: The query results may be cached, and the cache is no longer valid due to changes in the underlying data.
    3. Query Execution Context: The query might be executed in a context where the data is not synchronized with the query definition.

    Solution:

    1. Refresh the Query: The most straightforward solution is to refresh the query. This can usually be done by:

      • Clicking the "Refresh" button in the query execution interface.
      • Re-running the query after ensuring that the data has been loaded and is up-to-date.
    2. Check Data Load Status: Ensure that the data load process has completed successfully. You can check the status of data loads in the Data Warehousing Workbench or the process chain logs.

    3. Clear Cache: If the issue persists, you may need to clear the query cache. This can be done through transaction codes like RSRT (Query Monitor) or RSADMIN (to manage cache settings).

    4. Check Query Design: If the query is designed to pull data from multiple InfoProviders, ensure that all relevant data sources are updated.

    5. User Authorization: Ensure that the user executing the query has the necessary authorizations to access the updated data.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as:

      • RSRT: For executing and monitoring queries.
      • RSA1: For accessing the Data Warehousing Workbench.

    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for more details on query execution and data loading processes.

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
