  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You tried to assign a measure (or an appropriation request) to a
program position of investment program &V1&/&V2& that has program type
    &V4&.
However, there is an approval level for planning measures (or
appropriation requests) for version &V3& of an investment program of
approval year &V2& and program type &V4&. This means that the total of
the plan values from the assigned measures and appropriation requests
for version &V3& on this investment program is not allowed to change
unless you have the correct authorization. However, you do not have
    this authorization.

    System Response

    The assignment is not allowed.

    How to fix this error?

Reduce the plan value of the measure (or appropriation request) in
    version &V3& to zero.
If this error occurred during processing of an appropriation request
when the request was replaced by a measure, then check all measures
assigned to the appropriation request in version &V3&, and reduce their
    plan values to zero.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AP262 - Plan values exist - assignment not possible due to lack of authorization ?

The SAP error message AP262 ("Plan values exist - assignment not possible due to lack of authorization") typically occurs in the context of planning and budgeting within SAP, particularly when dealing with cost centers, internal orders, or other planning objects. This error indicates that the user is attempting to perform an action (such as assigning a plan value) that is restricted due to insufficient authorization.

    Cause:

    1. Insufficient Authorization: The user does not have the necessary permissions to modify or assign plan values to the specified object (e.g., cost center, internal order).
    2. Existing Plan Values: The system has detected that there are existing plan values for the object, and the current user’s role does not allow them to make changes to these values.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the authorization profiles that restrict access to certain planning functions.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Review the user’s authorization profile to ensure they have the necessary permissions to perform the action. This can be done by checking the user roles assigned in transaction SU01 (User Maintenance) or PFCG (Role Maintenance).
      • Ensure that the user has the appropriate authorizations for the relevant authorization objects (e.g., C_TCODE, C_PCA, C_KK).
    2. Consult with Security Team:

      • If the user lacks the necessary authorizations, consult with your SAP security team to request the appropriate access rights. They may need to adjust the roles or create new ones to accommodate the required permissions.
    3. Review Planning Data:

      • Check if there are existing plan values for the object in question. If so, determine if the user should be allowed to modify these values or if a different user with the appropriate permissions should perform the action.
    4. Transaction Codes:

      • Ensure that the user has access to the relevant transaction codes associated with planning and budgeting (e.g., KP06, KP07, KPF6, etc.).
    5. Testing:

      • After making any changes to authorizations, have the user log out and back in to ensure that the new permissions take effect. Then, attempt the action again to see if the error persists.

    Related Information:

    • Authorization Objects: Familiarize yourself with the relevant authorization objects that control access to planning functions. Common objects include:

      • C_PCA (Controlling Area)
      • C_KK (Cost Center)
      • C_TCODE (Transaction Code)
    • SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes related to this error message for additional guidance or patches that may address specific issues.

    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on planning and budgeting to understand the implications of plan values and the authorization model in SAP.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the AP262 error and ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to perform their tasks.
