How To Fix AJ346 - Implausible overflow for device &1, register &2, from-date &3, to-date &4

SAP Error Message - Details

• Message type: E = Error

• Message class: AJ - Billing program

• Message number: 346

• Message text: Implausible overflow for device &1, register &2, from-date &3, to-date &4

• Show details Hide details
• What causes this issue?

For device &v1&, <ZK>register</> &v2&, the rounded meter reading for
date &v3& is greater than the rounded meter reading for date &v4&.
However, the amount of the difference is less than 1.
The error may have caused by an artificial meter overflow resulting from
the rounding. This problem may occur, for example, if the meter reading
rounding changed due to a rate change.

System Response

This error can occur in billing in two processes:
During rounding of the actual meter reading results to the meter reading
rounding
During rounding of the meter reading results generated artificially as a
result of proration
In this case, the specified to-date &v4& is the proration date up to
which a result was calculated. This result is rounded and compared to
the result taken or calculated earlier. An artificial overflow was
determined in this process.

How can this happen?

You have recorded three meter readings. Two of them were read with three
decimal places. After the second result (10.957) was entered, the rate
changed, which resulted in a change in the meter reading rounding from
three to no decimal places (DP).
-------------------
0 3 DP 10.123
------------------
10.123 3 DP 10.957
------------------
10.957 0 DP 20
Rounding results in the following readings:
0 10.123 10 20
10.957 was rounded down to 10 (minimum of meter reading roundings 3 DP
and 0 DP). However, the reading is then lower than the previous reading
(10.123). As a result of the rounding, an artificial meter reading
overflow was generated.
The system cannot continue processing of the billing order.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Change the meter reading results in a way that rounding cannot result in
a meter overflow.
If the error resulted from artificially generated proration readings,
you can enter an estimated result for proration date &v4& or you can
change the results before and after the proration date in such a way
that the error does not occur (for example, you can manually round the
results down to zero decimal places).
Note
In some cases, the error can also occur in other situations, for
example, if an estimated meter reading exists in the database and there
is a meter overflow as a result of the next actual meter reading.
If this occurs, you can also use the procedure described above by adding
a new estimated meter reading or by changing the existing one.
We recommend that you also do this to replace obsolete estimatons with
more exact new estimations (for example, interpolation instead of
extrapolation).

• What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AJ346 - Implausible overflow for device &1, register &2, from-date &3, to-date &4 ?

The SAP error message AJ346 "Implausible overflow for device &1, register &2, from-date &3, to-date &4" typically occurs in the context of energy data management or utility billing processes. This error indicates that there is an inconsistency or implausible data in the consumption or production readings for a specific device (meter) and register (measurement point) over a defined time period.

Cause:

1. Data Entry Errors: Incorrect manual entries of meter readings can lead to implausible values.
2. Configuration Issues: Mismatches in the configuration of the device or register settings can cause overflow errors.
3. Data Corruption: Corrupted data in the database or during data transfer can lead to inconsistencies.
4. Time Period Issues: The specified time period may not align with the expected data collection intervals, leading to unrealistic readings.
5. Overflow Conditions: If the readings exceed the maximum value that can be stored in the register, it can trigger this error.

Solution:

1. Check Meter Readings: Review the meter readings for the specified device and register. Ensure that the readings are accurate and within a plausible range.
2. Verify Configuration: Check the configuration settings for the device and register to ensure they are set up correctly.
3. Data Correction: If incorrect readings are found, correct them in the system. This may involve adjusting the readings or re-entering them.
4. Review Time Period: Ensure that the from-date and to-date specified in the error message are correct and that data exists for that period.
5. Consult Logs: Check system logs for any additional error messages or warnings that may provide more context about the issue.
6. Database Integrity Check: If data corruption is suspected, perform a database integrity check and restore from backups if necessary.
7. Contact Support: If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.

Related Information:

• Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as EL31 (Display Meter Reading) or EL30 (Display Device) to investigate the issue further.
• Documentation: Review SAP documentation related to energy data management and billing processes for additional insights.
• User Forums: Engage with SAP community forums or user groups to see if others have encountered similar issues and how they resolved them.
