Message type: E = Error
Message class: AJ - Billing program
Message number: 242
Message text: Dev. &1 reg. &2 per. &3-&4: no VCF (oper.vol. meter shows zero consumpt.)
The register requires a gas procedure whose volume correction factor
component is calculated using a special procedure that uses the
register relationship <LS>calculation of volume correction factor</>.
The specified register indicates zero consumption for the specified
interval, while the corresponding standard volume meter does not
indicate zero consumption. In this case, no logical volume correction
value can be calculated.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Proceed as follows:
Check the meter reading results for the interval in question.
Enter any missing meter reading results or validate results that exist,
but are not billable.
Billable meter reading results should usually at least be available for
the above data.
Enter the resulting register differences of the corresponding standard
volume meter and the operating volume meter in the following formula:
RNum = Standard volume / Operating volume
Therefore, a sensible RNum will only result if both volumes are not
equal to zero or if both are equal to zero. Please also check the meter
reading results of the corresponding standard volume meter.
If the meter reading results are correct, an internal error could also
be involved. In this case, please contact SAP.

- Dev. &1 reg. &2 per. &3-&4: no VCF (oper.vol. meter shows zero consumpt.) ?The SAP error message AJ242 indicates that there is an issue with the volume consumption for a specific development and registration period. The message states that there is "no VCF (operational volume meter shows zero consumption)," which typically means that the system is unable to find any volume consumption data for the specified period.
Cause:
- Zero Consumption: The operational volume meter shows zero consumption, which means that there have been no recorded transactions or activities that would result in volume consumption for the specified period.
- Data Entry Issues: There may be missing or incorrect data entries in the system that prevent the calculation of volume consumption.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings for the volume calculation may not be set up correctly, leading to the inability to generate the required data.
- Timing Issues: The period specified may not have any relevant transactions or may be outside the expected timeframe for data entry.
Solution:
- Check Data Entries: Verify that there are transactions or activities recorded for the specified period. Ensure that all relevant data has been entered correctly.
- Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings related to volume calculation in SAP. Ensure that all necessary parameters are set up correctly.
- Update Volume Meters: If applicable, update the operational volume meters to reflect any recent transactions or changes that may not have been captured.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling volume consumption issues.
- Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal IT team for further assistance.
