  • What causes this issue?

The current transaction or current program is trying to change or fill
the "&v1&" field of asset &v2& &v3&. However, this field is not
modifiable according to screen layout rule &v4&.

The changes for this field are not adopted, and/or the field remains
    empty.

    How to fix this error?

Check screen layout rule &v4& in Customizing for Asset Accounting. If
you are performing an intercompany or intracompany transfer, check the
definition of the field transfer in the transfer variant.
If the field should be ready for input according to the screen layout
rule, you can look in transaction AS02 or AS01 to see why it is not

    Group box info</>.
This procedure does not work on the "Deprec. areas" tab page.
If you do not want to see this message in the future, you can suppress
it in Customizing for Asset Accounting. Choose <ZK>Transactions ->
    Maintain Message Types."

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AIST001 - According to screen layout &4, field &1 of asset &2 &3 cannot be changed ?

The SAP error message AIST001 indicates that a specific field of an asset cannot be changed due to the screen layout configuration. This error typically arises when trying to modify an asset master record in a way that is not permitted by the current screen layout settings.

    Cause:

    1. Screen Layout Configuration: The error is primarily caused by the screen layout settings defined in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module. These settings determine which fields are editable or non-editable based on the asset class, transaction type, and other criteria.
    2. Field Status Group: The field in question may be part of a field status group that is set to "Display" or "Hide" for the current transaction or asset class.
    3. Transaction Type Restrictions: Certain transaction types may have restrictions on what can be changed in the asset master data.

    Solution:

    1. Check Screen Layout: Review the screen layout settings for the asset class in question. You can do this by navigating to the configuration settings in SAP:

      • Go to SPRO ? Financial Accounting ? Asset Accounting ? Master Data ? Screen Layout ? Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Records.
      • Ensure that the field you are trying to change is set to "Changeable" for the relevant transaction type and asset class.
    2. Field Status Group: Check the field status group assigned to the asset class. You can find this in the configuration settings as well. If the field is set to "Display" or "Hide," you may need to adjust the settings to allow changes.

    3. Transaction Type: Verify the transaction type you are using to change the asset. Some transaction types may have restrictions on what can be modified. If necessary, use a different transaction type that allows changes to the desired field.

    4. Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the asset master data. Lack of proper authorization can also lead to restrictions.

    5. Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about the configuration settings, consult the SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like AS02 (Change Asset) to attempt the changes and see if the error persists.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
    • User Exits or BAdIs: In some cases, custom logic implemented through user exits or BAdIs may also affect the ability to change certain fields. Review any custom enhancements that may be in place.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the AIST001 error and implement the necessary changes to resolve it.
