Message class: AD - Data Dictionary application messages
Message number: 999
Message text: Activation currently locked (F1)
An activation lock is always set when you start an activation for a
single ABAP/4 Dictionary object or with the mass activating program.
This lock prevents objects of different object classes from being
activated in parallel, which could result in inconsistencies in the
ABAP/4 Dictionary. The lock is automatically cancelled when the
activation has ended. If an activation terminates, the lock first
remains in effect. It cancels itself after about 10 minutes.
The activation task is rejected.
Repeat the activation after a few minutes.

AD999
- Activation currently locked (F1) ?The SAP error message AD999 "Activation currently locked" typically occurs when there is an issue with the activation of a transport request or when an object is locked in the system. This can happen for various reasons, such as:
Causes:
- Transport Request Lock: The transport request that contains the changes you are trying to activate is locked, possibly because it is being processed by another user or system.
- Object Lock: The specific object you are trying to activate is locked by another user or session.
- Incomplete Activation: Previous activation attempts may have failed, leaving the system in a state where it cannot proceed with new activations.
- System Configuration: There may be configuration settings that prevent activation under certain conditions.
Solutions:
Check Lock Entries:
- Use transaction code SM12 to check for lock entries. Look for locks related to the transport request or the specific object you are trying to activate.
- If you find locks that are no longer needed, you can delete them (ensure you have the necessary authorizations).
Release Transport Request:
- If the transport request is locked, you may need to wait for the other user to complete their work or contact them to release the lock.
- If you have the necessary authorizations, you can also unlock the transport request.
Check Activation Logs:
- Use transaction code SLG1 to check the application log for any errors related to the activation process. This can provide insights into what went wrong during previous activation attempts.
Re-attempt Activation:
- After resolving any locks, try to activate the object again using transaction code SE80 or SE11, depending on the type of object.
System Restart:
- In some cases, a system restart may help clear any lingering locks or issues.
Consult Basis Team:
- If the issue persists, it may be necessary to consult your SAP Basis team for further investigation, as they can check for system-level locks or issues.
