  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message ACEPS054 - A run has already been carried out in company code &1 with key date &3 ?

The SAP error message ACEPS054 indicates that a run has already been executed for a specific company code and key date. This typically occurs in the context of processes such as year-end closing, financial reporting, or other periodic processing tasks where a specific run is expected to be unique for a given company code and date.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Run: The most common cause of this error is that a process (like a closing run) has already been executed for the specified company code and key date. This could happen if:

      • The user mistakenly attempts to run the process again.
      • A previous run was not properly completed or was left in a state that still registers it as "active."
      • There may be a misunderstanding about the timing or frequency of the runs.
    2. System Configuration: In some cases, the system configuration may not allow multiple runs for the same key date, which is a safeguard to prevent data inconsistencies.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing Runs:

      • Verify if a run has indeed been executed for the specified company code and key date. You can do this by checking the relevant transaction logs or reports in SAP.
      • Use transaction codes like ACEPS or S_ALR_87012357 to view the status of runs.
    2. Review Logs:

      • Look at the logs or reports generated by the previous run to ensure it completed successfully. If it did not, you may need to resolve any issues before attempting another run.
    3. Use a Different Key Date:

      • If the process allows, consider using a different key date for the run if the business process permits it.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review the documentation or guidelines for the specific process you are trying to execute to ensure you are following the correct procedures.
    5. Contact Support:

      • If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes that can help you monitor and manage runs, such as ACEPS for the specific process or SM37 for job monitoring.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. SAP frequently updates its knowledge base with solutions for common problems.
    • User Roles and Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to execute the run you are attempting. Sometimes, restrictions can lead to unexpected errors.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the ACEPS054 error and take appropriate action to resolve it.
