Message text: The unit of measure is being adapted (-> Help)
When processing assets, you cannot enter a quantity without a unit of
quantity. Therefore the system adapts the entry for the unit of
quantity to the entry for the quantity.
Independent of this, the system also allows for separate handling of
the maintenance level. This method allows, for example, the unit of
quantity to be specified at the level of the asset class, but the
quantity itself to be managed at the level of the asset.

- The unit of measure is being adapted (-> Help) ?The SAP error message AC421, which states "The unit of measure is being adapted," typically occurs in the context of asset accounting when there is a mismatch or inconsistency in the unit of measure (UoM) for an asset. This can happen during various transactions, such as when posting an acquisition or transfer of an asset.
Cause:
- Unit of Measure Mismatch: The error often arises when the unit of measure defined for the asset does not match the unit of measure used in the transaction.
- Configuration Issues: There may be issues in the configuration of the asset master data or the related settings in the system.
- Data Inconsistencies: If there are inconsistencies in the data between the asset master record and the transaction data, this error can occur.
- Currency Conversion: If the asset is being valued in a different currency than what is defined in the asset master, it may lead to this error.
Solution:
- Check Asset Master Data: Review the asset master data to ensure that the unit of measure is correctly defined. You can do this by navigating to the asset master record and checking the relevant fields.
- Review Transaction Data: Ensure that the transaction you are trying to post uses the correct unit of measure that matches the asset master data.
- Configuration Settings: Check the configuration settings in the Asset Accounting module to ensure that the units of measure are set up correctly. This may involve reviewing the settings in the IMG (Implementation Guide).
- Data Consistency Check: Run a data consistency check to identify any discrepancies between the asset master and transaction data.
- Currency Settings: If currency conversion is involved, ensure that the currency settings are consistent across the asset master and the transaction.
