Message type: E = Error
Message class: ABADR - Message Class for Characteristic Derivation
Message number: 048
Message text: No "from" or "to" values can be entered for this source field
Some columns can only take single values.
This can be due to one of the following reasons:
Values in this column are used for validating and determining the
values in a different column that can only be interpreted in
combination with the former. Consequently, the values in this column
have to be determined uniquely.
The way that the value for this column is encoded internally is
different to how this value appears externally. For example, a
character value could be converted internally into a number. As a
result, the way the values are sorted internally is different.
Likewise, an interval entered externally no longer corresponds in
general to the interval created using the internal values.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

ABADR048
- No "from" or "to" values can be entered for this source field ?The SAP error message ABADR048 indicates that there is an issue with the input values for a specific field in a transaction or report. This error typically arises when you are trying to enter a range of values (from and to) for a field that does not support such input. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:
Cause:
- Field Type: The field you are trying to enter values for is likely defined in the system as a single value field rather than a range field. This means it does not accept both "from" and "to" values.
- Incorrect Input: You may have inadvertently entered values in both the "from" and "to" fields for a field that only requires a single value.
- Configuration Issue: There may be a configuration issue in the underlying data model or transaction that is causing the system to expect a range when it should not.
Solution:
- Check Field Definition: Review the field definition in the relevant transaction or report to confirm whether it is designed to accept a single value or a range. If it is a single value field, only enter a value in the "from" field and leave the "to" field blank.
- Correct Input: If you are trying to filter or search for a specific value, ensure that you are only entering a single value in the appropriate field. Remove any entries in the "to" field.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help files related to the specific transaction or report you are using to understand the expected input format.
- Check for Updates: If this error occurs in a custom transaction or report, check with your development team to see if there are any updates or patches that address this issue.
- Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting the SAP community for further assistance.
