  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AA_HDB001 - Archiving runs exist for posted values after reporting date ?

The SAP error message AA_HDB001 indicates that there are archiving runs that exist for posted values after the reporting date you are trying to use. This typically occurs in the context of Asset Accounting (FI-AA) when you attempt to generate reports or perform certain operations that involve asset data that has been archived.

    Cause:

The error is caused by the presence of archived data that is still relevant to the posted values in the asset accounting module. When data is archived, it is moved from the active database to an archive, which can lead to inconsistencies if the reporting date falls within the range of the archived data.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Archiving Status: Verify the archiving status of the asset data. You can do this by checking the archiving logs or using transaction codes like SARA (Archive Administration) to see which data has been archived.

    2. Adjust Reporting Date: If possible, adjust the reporting date to a time before the archiving runs were executed. This may allow you to bypass the archived data issue.

    3. Unarchive Data: If you need to access the archived data for the reporting period, consider unarchiving the relevant data. This can be done using transaction SARA, but be cautious as unarchiving can lead to performance issues if large volumes of data are involved.

    4. Consult Documentation: Review the SAP documentation related to archiving in Asset Accounting to understand the implications of archiving and how it affects reporting.

    5. Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists or if you are unsure about the steps to take, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They can provide guidance based on your specific system configuration and requirements.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as:

      • SARA: For managing archiving.
      • S_ALR_87011990: For asset reports.
      • AABAP: For asset accounting transactions.
    • Archiving Objects: Understand the archiving objects related to Asset Accounting, which can include asset master data, asset transactions, and more.

    • System Configuration: Ensure that your system configuration for archiving is set up correctly, including the retention periods and archiving settings.

    • Testing: Always test changes in a development or quality assurance environment before applying them to production to avoid unintended consequences.
