  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 61740 - Firmed components of the planned order are copied ?

The SAP error message 61740, which states "Firmed components of the planned order are copied," typically occurs in the context of production planning and order management. This message indicates that there are firmed components in a planned order that are being copied to another order or operation, which may not be allowed due to the nature of firmed components.

    Cause:

    1. Firmed Components: The planned order has components that are marked as firmed. Firmed components are those that have been confirmed and are not subject to change. This means that they are locked in for production and cannot be altered without specific actions.
    2. Copying Restrictions: When attempting to copy a planned order that contains firmed components, the system prevents this action to maintain the integrity of the production plan and ensure that the firmed commitments are honored.

    Solution:

    1. Review the Planned Order: Check the planned order to identify which components are firmed. You can do this by navigating to the planned order in the SAP system and reviewing the component list.
    2. Unfirm the Components: If it is necessary to copy the planned order, you may need to unfirm the components. This can typically be done by changing the status of the components in the planned order. However, be cautious with this approach, as it may affect production commitments.
    3. Create a New Order: Instead of copying the planned order, consider creating a new order manually and entering the required components without copying the firmed ones.
    4. Consult with Production Planning: If you are unsure about the implications of unfirming components or changing planned orders, consult with your production planning team or a SAP expert to ensure that you are following the correct procedures.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Documentation: Refer to the SAP Help Portal for detailed documentation on planned orders and firmed components.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as MD04 (Stock/Requirements List) and CO01 (Create Production Order) to manage planned orders effectively.
    • User Exits and BAdIs: If your organization has specific business rules regarding firmed components, check if there are any user exits or BAdIs (Business Add-Ins) that might be affecting the behavior of planned orders.

By understanding the cause of the error and following the suggested solutions, you should be able to address the issue effectively.
