Message text: Maximum no. of order proposals per deadline exceeded
If, due to the lot-sizing procedure, more order proposals are created
per date than the limit set in Customizing, the system terminates the
planning run.
This can occur, for example, if you use the lot-sizing procedure with
fixed lot sizes. If this lot size is set too low to cover the usual
requirement quantity, too many order proposals will be created for
one date.
To avoid this happening, you can define a limit value in Customizing
that limits the number of order proposals that are allowed to be
created for one date. If this limit is exceeded, the system terminates
the planning run.
Check the limit value for the maximum number of order proposals per
date in Customizing for MRP. To do this, select <PF>Maintain
entries</>.
Or, check your lot-sizing procedure.

- Maximum no. of order proposals per deadline exceeded ?The SAP error message 61098, "Maximum no. of order proposals per deadline exceeded," typically occurs in the context of production planning and scheduling. This error indicates that the system has reached the maximum limit of order proposals that can be generated for a specific deadline. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:
Cause:
- Order Proposal Limit: SAP has a predefined limit for the number of order proposals that can be generated for a specific deadline. When this limit is exceeded, the system triggers this error.
- High Demand: A sudden spike in demand or a large number of planned orders can lead to the generation of more proposals than the system can handle.
- Configuration Settings: The configuration settings in the production planning module may have a low threshold for the maximum number of order proposals.
Solutions:
Increase the Limit:
- You can adjust the configuration settings in the SAP system to increase the maximum number of order proposals allowed. This typically involves accessing the relevant configuration settings in the Production Planning (PP) module.
- Transaction codes like
SPRO
can be used to navigate to the configuration settings. Look for settings related to order proposals or planning parameters.Review Demand and Supply:
- Analyze the demand and supply situation to see if there are any unusual spikes or issues that can be addressed. This may involve adjusting forecasts or production schedules.
Batch Processing:
- If applicable, consider breaking down the processing of orders into smaller batches to avoid hitting the limit.
Check for Errors in Master Data:
- Ensure that there are no errors in the master data (e.g., material master, BOM, routing) that could be causing excessive order proposals.
Consult SAP Notes:
- Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
