  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 1H099 - There is already 1 stack on database with status 'Being edited' (no.&) ?

The SAP error message 1H099 indicates that there is already a stack on the database that is currently in the status of "Being edited." This typically occurs in the context of managing transport requests or when working with the SAP Transport Management System (TMS).

    Cause:

The error arises when you attempt to create or edit a transport request or stack while another transport request is already in the process of being edited. This can happen due to:

    1. Concurrent Editing: Another user or process is currently editing the same transport request or stack.
    2. System Lock: The system may have a lock on the transport request due to a previous operation that has not been completed or released.
    3. Incomplete Process: A previous transport operation may have failed or been interrupted, leaving the request in an "editing" state.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Active Transport Requests:

      • Use transaction code SE01 or SE09 to view the transport requests. Look for any requests that are in the "Being edited" status.
      • Identify the transport request that is causing the conflict.
    2. Release or Complete the Editing Process:

      • If you have access, complete or release the transport request that is currently being edited. This may involve saving changes or canceling the editing session.
    3. Check for Locks:

      • Use transaction code SM12 to check for any locks on the transport request. If you find a lock that is no longer needed, you can delete it (ensure you have the necessary authorizations and that it is safe to do so).
    4. Wait for Completion:

      • If another user is editing the transport request, you may need to wait until they have completed their work.
    5. System Restart:

      • In some cases, a system restart may help clear any lingering locks or processes that are causing the issue.
    6. Consult with Basis Team:

      • If the issue persists, it may be necessary to consult with your SAP Basis team for further investigation and resolution.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how TMS works can help in managing transport requests effectively.
    • User Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to view and edit transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error message 1H099 and continue with your transport request activities.
