  • What causes this issue?

Change switches PASSWORDX, LOGONDATAX-BCODE, LOGONDATAX-CODVN, and
LOGONDATAX-LTIME are very restrictively linked logically.
An arbitrary combination of these values is therefore not possible.
Only the following cases are allowed as possible combinations for the
    four change switches:

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Assignment of a new, initial password:
Of the four change switches above, only the switch PASSWORDX may be set.
The other values, BCODE, CODVN and LTIME, are calculated internally.
Deactivation of the password logon, for example, when using SNC logons:
Here, only the change switch LOGONDATAX-CODVN can be set to 'X'.
Values BCODE and LTIME are calculated internally.

The SAP error message "01772 The parameters for password change contain an invalid combination" typically occurs when there is an issue with the parameters being used to change a user's password in the SAP system. This error can arise due to several reasons, including:

    Causes:

    1. Invalid Password Format: The new password may not meet the system's password complexity requirements (e.g., length, character types).
    2. User Lockout: The user account may be locked or inactive, preventing any password changes.
    3. Password History: The new password may be the same as one of the last few passwords used, violating the password history policy.

    5. Parameter Misconfiguration: There may be incorrect settings in the user profile or system parameters related to password management.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Password Requirements: Ensure that the new password meets the complexity requirements set by the system. This typically includes a minimum length, a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
    2. Unlock User Account: If the user account is locked, it can be unlocked by an administrator using transaction code SU01 (User Maintenance).
    3. Change Password History Settings: If the new password is too similar to previous passwords, consider using a different password that complies with the history policy.
    4. Review User Profile: Check the user’s profile settings in transaction SU01 to ensure there are no restrictions preventing the password change.
    5. System Parameters: Review the system parameters related to password management (e.g., RZ10 for profile parameters) to ensure they are correctly configured.
