What is payroll group in SAP SRD-HR-PAY - HCM-Payroll Processing?


SAP Term: payroll group

  • Component: SRD-HR-PAY

  • Component Name: HCM-Payroll Processing

  • Description: Grouping of employees who are run in payroll at the same time with the same pay cycle frequency. The payroll group can be cross-enterprise but not cross-border for statutory and legal reporting reasons. A payroll group shares the same attributes as follows: pay group name, pay group frequency and pay period.

    A payroll group is a grouping of employees in SAP that allows for the efficient processing of payroll. It is used to define the payroll area, the wage type, and the payment method for each employee. It also allows for the assignment of collective agreements and other payroll-related information. 
    
    How to use it: 
    In order to use a payroll group, it must first be created in the SAP system. This can be done by navigating to the “Payroll Group” tab in the “Human Resources” module. Once created, it can be assigned to individual employees or groups of employees. This can be done by navigating to the “Employee Master Data” tab and selecting the “Payroll Group” field. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When creating a payroll group, it is important to ensure that all relevant information is included. This includes the wage type, payment method, and collective agreement. It is also important to ensure that all employees assigned to a payroll group have the same wage type and payment method.
