What is version in SAP SCM-IBP - Integrated Business Planning?

SAP Term: version

  • Component: SCM-IBP

  • Component Name: Integrated Business Planning

  • Description: A partial or full copy of the planning area that can be used to simulate the effects of changes to the data. The base version is available in the standard system. Based on the base version, the model administrator sets up additional versions in configuration. Using versions allows users to make changes to the planning area, and if necessary, save the changes. The changes made to a version are visible to all users in all applications of IBP. Comparing different versions enables users to evaluate different planning alternatives. For example, the model administrator can create an optimistic, or 'upside' and a pessimistic or 'downside' version containing the key figure 'sales forecast', and assign the value 100 to the key figure in the optimistic version and 50 in the pessimistic version. Planners can use the two versions to do 'what-if'analysis. Based on the versions, planners can also run simulations, and save them as scenarios.
