What is substitution demand in SAP SCM-APO-SNP - Supply Network Planning (SNP)?

SAP Term: substitution demand

  • Component: SCM-APO-SNP

  • Component Name: Supply Network Planning (SNP)

  • Description: Demand created for a successor product during a Supply Network Planning run that involves product interchangeability. This demand is created when the product concerned is to substitute another product. If a product is substituted by a successor product during product supersession, the demand for the product to be substituted is transferred to the successor product in the Supply Network Planning run. The system then creates a receipt SNP product substitution order for the predecessor product in the "Substitution Receipt" key figure to clear the demand for this product. It also creates a demand in the "Substitution Demand" key figure to transfer the demand to the successor product.

  • Key Concepts:
Substitution demand is a type of demand in SAP Supply Network Planning (SNP) that is used to replace a planned order with another order. This type of demand is used when the original planned order cannot be fulfilled due to a lack of resources or other constraints. Substitution demand is closely related to other types of demand in SAP Supply Network Planning (SNP), such as forecast demand and safety stock demand. It is important to understand how these different types of demand interact with each other in order to ensure that the supply chain is running efficiently and effectively.
