What is partially initialized planning version in SAP SCM-APO-SNP - Supply Network Planning (SNP)?

SAP Term: partially initialized planning version

  • Component: SCM-APO-SNP

  • Component Name: Supply Network Planning (SNP)

  • Description: Planning version created by the partial version copy transaction /SAPAPO/VERCOP, which is only accessible if the business function SCM-APO, Version Simulation SCM_APO_VERSION_SIM is active. Partial initialization means that the version copy creates only those time series that are in the scope of the copy selection to reduce memory usage in SAP liveCache. The system uses partial initialization only with SNP planning areas; DP planning areas are copied fully initialized. Partially initialized planning versions can be used in Supply Network Planning in the same way as fully initialized versions. If a missing time series is required in a partially initialized planning version, the system creates it automatically. This can lead to a slight decrease in performance; we therefore advise that you adjust the copy selection so that it contains most of the time series needed by subsequent planning steps. However, a missing time series should not lead to an error.
