  • Key Concepts:
A planning package is a collection of data used in the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management (SCM) application. It is used to define the scope of a planning run, which is a process that creates a production plan based on the data in the package. The package contains information such as the product to be planned, the time period to be planned, and the planning parameters to be used.

    How to use it:
To use a planning package, first create one in the PPS component of SCM. This can be done by selecting the “Create Planning Package” option from the menu. Once created, the package can be used in a planning run by selecting it from the list of available packages. The planning run will then use the data in the package to generate a production plan.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a planning package, it is important to ensure that all relevant data is included. This includes not only product and time period information, but also any relevant planning parameters such as safety stock levels or lot sizing rules. Additionally, it is important to ensure that any changes made to the package are saved before running a planning run.
